In 2002 when
the Argentinean economy went bankrupt - making the exchange rate
plummet at a ratio of 1:5 (i.e. everything over here is five times
more expensive than in Argentina). A pint of beer, therefore, is the
equivalent of around £10 !
Despite the poor
exchange rate making it increasingly difficult to manage to get to
the TT, the ArgentineManTT team still persevere and work all year to
come to the Isle of Man to race with the aid and support of family
and friends to achieve it. “Even if we have to survive on bread and
water we'll be there,” they say.
A big thank you to
some of those people who make it all possible. |
